About Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Chinas first national park, established 1982, at the heart of the Wulingyuan UNESCO World Heritage Area. Over 3,000 sandstone pillars rise from the subtropical forest, many taller than 200 m, inspiring the floating mountains in the film Avatar. Relict species such as the dove tree survive in the ravines. Macaques patrol the walkways while clouds pour between the pillars.
