About Sinharaja Forest Reserve
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the last viable area of primary tropical rainforest in Sri Lanka. Over 60% of trees are endemic, and 50% of Sri Lankas endemic species live here. Only 21 km long and 7 km wide. Large mixed-species bird flocks are a famous feature. Saved from logging by public protests in the 1970s.
