About Pando Aspen Clone

A single male quaking aspen that has spread into about 47,000 genetically identical stems in Fishlake National Forest, all bound by one root system. Estimated at 6,000 tons, it is among the heaviest known organisms on Earth. Some estimates put its age at many thousands of years. Mule deer and elk browse the shoots faster than the clone regrows, and it is slowly thinning.
