About Great Bear Rainforest
The largest intact temperate rainforest. The spirit bear (Kermode bear) is a rare white black bear found only here. Only 400-1,000 spirit bears exist. The Kitasoo/Xaixais people have lived here for millennia. Protected in 2016 after decades of negotiations.
