About Budongo Forest
The largest mahogany forest in East Africa and a former royal hunting ground of the Bunyoro kings. Around 700 chimpanzees live here, and long running studies since the 1960s revealed their hunting parties and habit of using tools. Ugandan ironwood dominates the canopy. The forest adjoins Murchison Falls National Park, and animals move between the two.
