Tropical rainforests are warm and wet year-round. Temperate forests have four distinct seasons. Boreal forests (taiga) are cold with coniferous trees.

Cloud forests exist in constant fog at high elevation. Mangrove forests grow in saltwater along coasts. Dry forests survive long dry seasons.
